I’ve always loved to bake. A tradition started by my mother who really made the kitchen the heart of the home.
She found such joy in producing wonderful, wholesome goodies for our lunchboxes that were the envy of our friends at school.
Life is of course, a little faster paced these days. We have less time than ever before, many of us juggling work, families and various other commitments. While I love to bake from scratch, knowing every ingredient I am putting in that cake, muffin or biscuit, sometimes there are just not enough hours in the day.
For years I have been searching shelves for the convenience of a baking mix that is as close as possible to the pure ‘from scratch’ baking I knew as a child. Disappointingly, much of the food produced today, contains too many of those highly processed, refined ingredients that we all know are not good for us.
People are now more determined than ever, to fight the obesity crisis and take charge of their own health and wellbeing. With Eve’s Better Bake, our mission is to be a driving force in the movement back towards a more natural food source.
It was essential that we cater to a wide range of food allergies and intolerances having had firsthand experience with some of these. My daughter suffered a very frightening anaphylactic reaction at one year of age – we later discovered an allergy to egg and dairy.
I also discovered my own intolerance to gluten thanks to the help of a wonderful naturopath Kelly. After two years of being very unwell with constant nausea and severely dry and inflamed skin, I was relieved to find that eliminating gluten and continuing to eat a healthy diet was the answer.
There is no shortage of information out there connecting the increase in food allergies and intolerances with the way in which many foods are manufactured in the modern day. It is no surprise that there is now a major swing back to the way food was produced in ancient times.
At Eve’s Better Bake we take great pride in creating our delicious baking mixes using some of these wonderful ancient grains and superfoods, such as chia, quinoa, cacao and sorghum. You won’t find any refined sugar in our mixes and they can all be made with healthy oils like coconut oil, rice bran oil or olive oil.

Kelly Thomas is a highly qualified and experienced naturopathic medicine practitioner. She holds a Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) from Southern School of Natural Therapies where she excelled in research and food as medicine.
Kelly is a general naturopathic physician and has a broad range of interests in all aspects of health. She treats with therapies such as bush flower remedies, herbal medicine and homeopathy. Her passion is food as medicine, reconnecting people with real food that grounds us and gives us optimal nourishment.
